Apple has raised iPhone prices ahead of the company's first move into the foldable device market. New chief executive John Ternus is expected to unveil the folding iPhone Duo on Wednesday.
The two developments land on the same day. By adjusting the existing iPhone lineup's price before the Duo is formally introduced, Apple sets a floor for the standard tier before Ternus reveals what sits above it.
Raising that floor first creates room for the foldable to occupy a distinct price position once it arrives.
