Arizona Yuma Sector CDL fraud bust nets 95 truck drivers, 143 total arrests

The commercial driver's license is the load-bearing credential in U.S. trucking: no 80,000-pound semi moves legally without one, and issuance sits with state motor vehicle agencies.

That credentialing layer is now at the center of a federal enforcement action.

A multi-agency operation in Arizona's Yuma Sector, running from August 10 to 14, resulted in the arrest of 95 illegal alien truck drivers, each carrying a state-issued commercial driver's license.

Of those licenses, 76 were issued by California and six by New York, with the remainder from a handful of other states, according to Customs and Border Protection.
