Two investors have backed SK Hynix, the South Korean memory maker now preparing its first US listing, ahead of the American debut: Situational Awareness, a hedge fund run by a former OpenAI researcher, and Baillie Gifford, the UK investment firm.
No financial terms for the offering have been reported, and neither investor's stake size is disclosed. Situational Awareness is run by someone who came out of OpenAI before moving into capital allocation.
Baillie Gifford is the UK investment firm on the same pre-IPO ticket. The two are arriving from different institutional origins at the same position in a South Korean memory maker.
