Ted Cruz appeared on ESPN's "College GameDay" to discuss the bipartisan "Save College Sports Act" alongside host Rece Davis, former ESPN personality Jemele Hill posted on X that she "did not know ESPN had become a political lobbying firm." The claim invited an immediate comparison with Hill's own record on the same network.

Cruz co-authored the bill targeting federal regulation of NIL deals and the transfer portal in college sports. His College GameDay segment focused on that structural gap.

Whether the appearance counts as political lobbying is the question critics turned back on Hill.

Hill's record at ESPN Hill hosted "SC6" on ESPN with Michael Smith, a program that regularly addressed political and social subject matter.
