Nvidia expands DLSS 5 to RTX 40 GPUs but keeps slider control with developers

The compute requirements of Nvidia's controversial DLSS 5 AI rendering established its original launch terms: one game, RTX 50-series hardware only, with developers holding full authority over the output settings as a matter of artistic control.

Those terms did not survive the modding community. A leaked build of DLSS 5 was already running on hardware far outside the RTX 50 lineup, quality sliders pushed to maximum, before the official release shipped.

Nvidia is now officially expanding DLSS 5 to RTX 40-series GPUs. The original debut was designed as a controlled event.

The constraints were specific: a single title, Nvidia's newest silicon, and developers setting the parameters for how the AI rendering output would look.
