The couple's trip follows the conclusion of the Pirates' 2025 season, during which the team lost 80 games.
Although the Pirates avoided finishing last in the National League Central division, they did not qualify for the postseason.
This outcome allowed Skenes to begin his break earlier than players on teams that were eliminated in the Wild Card round.
