Airport lounge access has become one of the stickier retention levers in premium travel loyalty, binding co-brand cardholders to a carrier through physical amenity rather than price.
Southwest Airlines is now moving into that space.
The airline announced plans to debut lounges in four cities through a partnership with Chase, saying it intends to build on Chase's Sapphire Reserve Lounge Network, with additional cities to follow.
The Sapphire Reserve Lounge Network is Chase's existing physical layer in the premium travel card market, built around its Sapphire Reserve product.
