Tehran urges return to June deal as Iran-U.S. strikes drive oil prices higher

Iran struck two American military bases in Jordan on Monday, with Tehran framing the operation as retaliation for a prior U.S. President Trump pledged to respond against Iran with force.

The Larak Island attack, which the United States conducted before Monday, provided Tehran's stated justification. Iranian officials characterized their Jordan strikes as a direct answer to that operation.

Trump's position: Washington will hit Iran "hard." Tehran simultaneously called for a return to the June deal, placing an open negotiating channel alongside the military exchange.
