The White House dismissed late-night host Jimmy Kimmel as a "no-talent loser" following a series of personal insults directed at newly appointed press secretary Katie Zacharia.

The response came after Kimmel used back-to-back monologues on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to mock Zacharia's intelligence and background during her first week in the role.

During Tuesday's episode, which aired after Zacharia's first official briefing, Kimmel referred to her as "Malibu Katie." He characterized her appointment as adding a "fawning blonde dolt" to a rotation intended to keep President Donald Trump "awake and interested." White House spokesman Davis Ingle responded in a statement to Fox News Digital, claiming Kimmel has "beclowned himself with tanking ratings and by spewing disgusting lies." Ingle added that Kimmel is "so devoid of actual talent" that viewers only watch to "laugh at his miserable failures." White House communications director Steven Cheung defended Zacharia in a separate statement to Fox News Digital.

He described her as a "fabulous and wonderful addition" who is "uniquely qualified and whip smart." Cheung stated she will do an "incredible job" informing the American people about the administration's work.
