Where each name sits in the build-out

Qualcomm and Advanced Micro Devices design processors and accelerators, the compute layer where AI workloads run. Intel operates across processors and data center interconnect fabric. Corning's core business runs through fiber optic cable and specialty glass, the physical transport layer that carries data between servers and between facilities.

That spread across the stack explains why deal announcements from Qualcomm and Corning were enough to lift the broader group. A GPU cluster runs only as fast as its slowest link. Spending on AI compute requires parallel commitments across fiber, switching equipment, power delivery, and custom silicon, because each layer is a potential constraint on the others. The bottleneck the deals reflect

The constraint in large-scale AI infrastructure is data movement. Keeping GPU clusters at high utilization requires getting data to compute nodes fast enough that the processors are rarely waiting on transport.
