Coolpad has released the Cool X Wide, a non-folding Android smartphone featuring a screen aspect ratio comparable to recent widescreen foldables. The device is currently available for preorder on JD.com in China. The design departs from standard slab form factors by offering a display width similar to the Huawei Pura X View, which launched in China in August. This wider screen profile aligns with the visual footprint of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the iPhone Duo when those devices are closed. Unlike the folding competitors, the Cool X Wide avoids the mechanical complexity of a hinge, thereby eliminating associated screen creases. The manufacturer positions the phone as an alternative to high-priced foldables, offering similar screen real estate without the premium cost or potential repair expenses typical of folding hardware.
