Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz is releasing a 27-minute documentary titled "War on Fraud" to detail the Trump administration's efforts to combat alleged healthcare fraud. The film, first obtained by Fox News Digital, follows Oz across the United States as he investigates suspected schemes targeting Medicare, Medicaid, and hospice care programs. Oz stated in the video that fraudsters prioritize profit over patient welfare, claiming they will "walk all over your health, sacrifice your life and betray society’s trust to get your hard-earned money."
The documentary features appearances by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and CMS Deputy Administrator Kim Brandt. It highlights a federal operation in New York City involving the FBI, HHS-OIG, NYPD, and other agencies targeting senior day care centers suspected of questionable Medicaid billing. More than 80 New York City providers received warning letters from CMS as part of this investigation. An FBI spokesperson confirmed that law enforcement activity is ongoing in Queens, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and other locations in connection with federal investigations.
Oz identified specific irregularities during his visit to New York, including low attendance paired with high Medicaid billing, questionable wheelchair transportation charges, and sign-in sheets containing future-dated entries. He described a cluster of businesses in Flushing, Queens, as a "clubhouse for crooks," alleging they form a fraudulent billing operation that recruits seniors and uses their ID numbers to charge various programs. Oz stated that these businesses "game the system" and ultimately charge taxpayers for services.
The film also addresses hospice care fraud, with Oz pointing to the Los Angeles area as a region of concern due to the high concentration of providers. He alleged that Russian organized crime groups are involved in some operations, falsely declaring patients terminally ill to enroll them in hospice care while limiting their access to treatment for other conditions. These allegations allow fraudulent operators to bill Medicare under false pretenses.
Oz cited Minnesota as a major focus of the administration's crackdown following the state's $250 million "Feeding Our Future" scandal, which erupted in 2022 and has led to federal convictions. The White House Task Force on Fraud, led by Vice President JD Vance, has joined the administration's media efforts to highlight alleged scams. The documentary references a massive alleged Medicare fraud scheme in U.S. history linked to Delray Beach, Florida, medical equipment companies, with federal prosecutors citing $3.7 billion in fraudulent billing claims. Investigators allege the operation involved billing for equipment patients never requested, with the accused ringleader captured in Turkey and returned to South Florida to face charges.
The "War on Fraud" documentary is scheduled for release on Wednesday at 4 P.M. ET on Oz's X account.
