Google DeepMind, Meta, and AI drug discovery startup Isomorphic Labs are jointly investing $300 million into Biohub, a nonprofit biomedical research organization founded by Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan. Reuters reported that this funding is part of a broader $1.8 billion initiative designed to build AI datasets. The goal is to allow researchers to "ask, predict, and answer biological questions digitally," which could help identify new ways to prevent and manage diseases.
Biohub was founded in 2016 with the aim of combating diseases through the creation of a "virtual cell." This digital tool would enable researchers to carry out simulations. The US Department of Energy is also supporting this effort.
