Justin Tucker worked out for the New York Jets on Wednesday, joined by kickers Michael Badgley and Joshua Karty, according to The Ringer's Tom Pelissero. The tryout is Tucker's third since the Baltimore Ravens released him in May 2025, following a 10-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy and accusations of sexual misconduct from 16 female massage therapists.
The New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts each held workouts with Tucker before Wednesday. Neither signed him.
The position changes the math
The constraint in any NFL personnel decision is the ratio of on-field value to off-field exposure. For a quarterback, teams have shown they will absorb significant reputational weight. Deshaun Watson received an 11-game suspension in 2022 after allegations from more than two dozen massage therapists and settled 23 civil lawsuits, then signed a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract with the Cleveland Browns. The Browns believed Watson remained a franchise-caliber player. That read has proven wrong.
Tucker's math sits differently. He is a kicker who turns 37 in November, coming off a 2024 season in which he converted 73.3% of his field-goal attempts, a career low. The market ceiling for the position does not carry the risk tolerance that a franchise quarterback slot commands.
The accusations against Tucker surfaced in a January 2025 Baltimore Banner report detailing allegations from 16 massage therapists, who described misconduct during sessions between 2012 and 2016 at eight spas in and around Baltimore. Tucker served the suspension. The Ravens released him after 13 seasons with the franchise.
He was never criminally charged or sued in civil court. Tucker has denied all wrongdoing. He and his wife Amanda, along with attorneys led by Joe Terry of Williams & Connolly, spoke to OutKick and provided material they said challenged the accusations. Among it was an email from one accuser who wrote that it had been "a pleasure working with you" when Tucker canceled his spa membership in 2016.
The Jets have not announced a signing. Tucker did not respond to a request for comment following Wednesday's workout.
