Police arrested Alexander Michael Evanoff, a 19-year-old not enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, after he allegedly filmed a consensual sexual encounter and distributed the video to a 32-member Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity group chat without the woman's consent.
According to court documents, Evanoff was taken into custody on Monday and released on Tuesday on a $10,000 bond. He faces one count of disclosing private images and two counts of felony secret peeping. The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 19, when Evanoff used his cellphone to record a sexually explicit video during sex with the victim.
An affidavit states that during an interview with law enforcement, Evanoff admitted to intentionally recording the act and sending it to the fraternity group chat. He acknowledged to detectives that he did not request or obtain the victim's permission to create or distribute the footage.
When the woman confronted Evanoff about the recording, she asked if sharing it in the group chat made him appear cool. Evanoff reportedly responded affirmatively before apologizing.
A University of North Carolina at Charlotte spokesperson confirmed to WSOC that Evanoff is not currently a student. The university stated that the alleged conduct, if true, is reprehensible and inconsistent with expectations for members of its campus community. Fox News Digital has reached out to the university, Evanoff's attorney, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon for further comment.
