Meta is bringing its Instagram for TV application to Apple TV, extending the platform's reach to the Apple ecosystem. The move follows a period of steady expansion for the social network's television offerings, which initially focused on video content.
The company began testing a TV-oriented version of Instagram in December of last year. That early build emphasized Reels, live streams, and other video formats optimized for larger screens. In June, Meta launched additional features for the app, making it available on Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Smart TVs, and Google TV.
The addition of Apple TV support was first identified by MacRumors, which noted an updated Instagram app listing in the App Store. The revision added Apple TV to the list of compatible platforms on October 23rd. Unlike previous launches, this update has received little public fanfare from Meta. Archived versions of the app page confirm the platform addition.
