Meta has postponed the enforcement of its new business terms following concerns from publishers that the updates could permit the company to scrape news sites for AI training. Fast Company first reported on these concerns. In a statement to The Verge, Meta spokesperson Daniel Roberts said the terms will now take effect on November 20th. Roberts explained that the delay is intended "to allow more time for us to explain to our partners and stakeholders what's changing and what's not." The business terms were originally scheduled to go into effect on October 30th. These terms appeared to grant Meta permission to freely scrape sites using its platforms, with the material subsequently used for AI training.
