Microsoft is preparing to allow Microsoft 365 Family and Premium subscribers to share Copilot and AI usage features with up to five other people on their plans. This change reverses a prior restriction that limited access to AI-powered Office features to the primary account holder, a policy in place since the company bundled these tools into Personal and Family subscriptions last year.
The expansion was detailed in an email to subscribers reviewed by The Verge. The message outlines upcoming changes to the subscription structure, specifically noting that AI benefits will be available to everyone on the plan. Alongside the shared access to Copilot and AI features, subscribers will continue to provide access to Office apps and OneDrive storage to their additional users.
Microsoft described the update as "AI for everyone on your plan" in the communication. The rollout of these changes is expected to occur over the coming months.
