The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the death of Presley Gerber, son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, who was 27 years old. He died Sunday at a rehabilitation facility. An autopsy has yet to be completed to determine the specific cause of death.
The family requested privacy during this difficult time, according to a statement shared by Cindy Crawford's representative. Presley was the only son of the couple and the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber. He had been open about his mental health struggles, discussing them publicly on social media and in interviews over the years.
In an August 2026 cover story, Kaia Gerber described her brother's journey as a decade-long struggle with drug addiction. She noted that the family had historically kept private matters out of the public eye, but Presley chose to be transparent about his battles. "There's only so much you can hide from the world," Kaia told Vogue. "And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you're ashamed of them."
Presley's public disclosures included a December 2025 Instagram video, which he later deleted. In that video, he discussed taking medications including Xanax, Valium, and buprenorphine while dealing with panic attacks. He stated that he wanted to reach people who might be going through similar experiences. "A lot of people will at least know that there's someone else going through it," he said in the clip, as reported by People magazine.
He also appeared on a Studio 22 podcast in February 2023, where he spoke about his mental health and depression. His willingness to discuss these issues publicly contrasted with the family's previous privacy. Kaia mentioned that she began to self-identify as the "easy one" in the family to avoid asking for help, feeling it was too much for their parents to have two children needing support.
Before his death, Presley had a career in modeling. He signed with IMG Models at age 15 and made his runway debut at a Moschino show in Los Angeles in 2016. He walked for several designer houses, including Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger. He also starred in campaigns for Calvin Klein and a fragrance ad for Celine.
In 2019, Presley was charged with a DUI. His death marks a significant loss for the Gerber family and the modeling industry. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is still processing the case, with the final determination pending the completion of the autopsy.
