The bundles route power, data, and signal through every platform, and because the geometry changes with each configuration variant, the work has stayed manual-intensive longer than nearly any other production step in the stack. Senra Systems, a Cypress, Calif.-based company applying software-driven methods to that process, announced a $65 million Series B on July 15, 2026, alongside plans for a third manufacturing facility and a fivefold increase in production capacity.
The constraint this addresses
The specific unit that drives wire harness economics is skilled labor time per configuration. Each platform variant requires its own routing geometry. That combination of variety and manual dependency has resisted automation longer than almost any other assembly step in the aerospace sector. High-mix defense programs compound the problem: configuration variants multiply while the pool of trained harness technicians does not. Software-driven manufacturing, Senra's stated approach, targets that ratio by encoding routing logic and process control digitally rather than in physical fixtures and manual sequence. When the ratio breaks in the manufacturer's favor, throughput scales without a proportional headcount increase.
