South Korea's Nuri rocket successfully deployed five satellites for its first domestically launched microsatellite constellation during its fifth flight on Wednesday. Yonhap News Agency reported the successful deployment, marking a continued record for the homegrown launch vehicle. The primary payload consisted of five New-space Earth Observation Satellite Constellation for National Safety microsatellites. In addition to the main mission, nine of the rocket's ten CubeSat secondary payloads were released as planned, according to the Korea AeroSpace Administration. The sole failure in the secondary payload stack was PERSAT-02, a satellite developed by South Korean startup Quaternion, which failed to separate from the rocket. Meanwhile, United Launch Alliance's Vulcan rocket appears close to launching its return to flight mission. A no-earlier-than date of October 29 has been set for an Amazon Leo flight. The next rocket in the queue, also an Amazon Leo mission, is planned for later this year. Assuming the solid rocket boosters function correctly, Vulcan could be poised for a major breakthrough in launch cadence next year.
