Walmart is selling physical preorder copies of Metroid Ravenous, Nintendo's upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 side-scroller and the franchise's first 2D entry since Metroid Dread in 2021, at $59.88, down from the $69.99 standard retail price. The discounted price puts the physical edition at roughly the same level as the digital version. The game launches January 28th, 2027.

The offer has no stated end date, and Walmart preorder prices have been known to fluctuate before a title ships.

Nintendo first showed Ravenous at its September 2026 Direct. The reveal trailer was frantic in tempo, cutting between cinematic sequences and gameplay of protagonist Samus Aran dashing and rolling across a variety of environments, engaging enemies and bosses in battle. The game's story follows directly from Metroid Dread, at the conclusion of which Samus absorbs powerful abilities. Nintendo has framed the premise of Ravenous around Samus using those capabilities to fight her way off a planet. Plot specifics and any new mechanics remain undisclosed.

For players who have not yet played Metroid Dread, Amazon currently has it at $41.99 as part of Nintendo's "Customer Appreciation" sale, running through September 26th. Other Nintendo titles and accessories are also reduced in that promotion.

The Walmart preorder for the Metroid Ravenous physical edition is live at $59.88, ahead of the January 28th, 2027 release date.
