YouTube is implementing a "Made with AI" label for music tracks that are altered or fully generated using artificial intelligence. The platform applies this marking through a process similar to its existing system for labeling AI-generated video content.
According to YouTube, the policy targets specific uses of generative models, such as creating the composition and vocals. The company notes that the label does not apply to every instance of AI tool usage in music production. In its rules for music partners, YouTube outlines requirements for disclosing generative AI use. If an uploader fails to provide this disclosure, YouTube states it may rely on other signals to determine whether a song is AI-generated. The label rollout begins today.
