All Elite Wrestling has introduced a new match format called Clockwork Carnage, which will debut at WrestleDream on October 17. Will Ospreay will defend the AEW World Championship in the bout, adding a high-stakes element to the unique competition.
The match involves eight wrestlers and is divided into two distinct stages. In the first stage, two randomly selected competitors begin the match. Every three minutes, another randomly selected wrestler enters the ring. Any competitor who is pinned or submits during this entry phase is eliminated. This process continues until all eight wrestlers have entered the match.
Once the eighth wrestler joins the action, the remaining competitors move into a 15-minute scoring period. During this time, every pinfall or submission counts as one fall. When the 15 minutes expire, the wrestler with the highest number of falls is declared the winner.
Ospreay currently holds the AEW World Championship, a title he won by defeating Kenny Omega at All In in August. Before facing the field at WrestleDream, Ospreay is scheduled to defend his title against Kazuchika Okada at Grand Slam France on Wednesday.
The roster for the Clockwork Carnage match is not yet fully determined. Jack Perry and Samoa Joe are set to compete to determine who earns the final spot in the match. Joe made his return at All Out after a brief hiatus. The event will take place at the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida.
