Brick has introduced the Brick Night, a new device priced at $129 that uses location-based technology to block smartphone apps. The company previously sold the original Brick, a $59 gadget that required users to tap their phone against the device to activate app restrictions. The Brick Night eliminates this manual step by utilizing Bluetooth to automatically engage when a user enters a designated area, such as a bedroom.
The new device is physically larger than the original model. It operates on two CR2477 batteries and allows users to define a specific location zone with dimensions of up to 25 feet by 25 feet. Both the Brick and the Brick Night provide the option to block specific applications rather than rendering the entire phone inaccessible.
