Trump's public ambivalence about wanting a deal removes that clarity. When the party applying military force has not decided whether a negotiated outcome is even the objective, the other side has no diplomatic target to aim for.
The constraint here is coherence between the kinetic and the diplomatic tracks. They are not aligned.

Trump said more strikes could come that evening, putting the campaign tempo in open-ended territory rather than tied to any specific Iranian action or concession. His stated uncertainty about wanting a deal means the endpoint, if one exists, is undefined publicly.
