Attorney Edward Paltzik, representing Michael P. Desronvil, the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, has pushed back against allegations that his client refused to follow the law. Speaking to Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany in a preview for an interview airing on "Fox & Friends," Paltzik stated that Desronvil had no doubt about his decision during deliberations.
McEnany asked Paltzik whether Desronvil ever harbored reasonable doubt after the jury foreperson sent a note to the judge accusing the juror of refusing to follow the law on reasonable doubt. Paltzik responded, "Michael had zero doubt." When McEnany pressed him on whether the juror had evidence to support his position, Paltzik replied, "A lot of evidence. A mountain of evidence."
Desronvil was the only juror who did not agree with the majority after a week of deliberations. While eleven of his peers were ready to acquit the former nurse based on an insanity defense, Desronvil insisted on a guilty verdict. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on Sept. 4.
Clancy admitted to killing her children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan, at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023. Her defense team argued that postpartum psychosis rendered her not criminally responsible for the acts. Prosecutors countered that Clancy understood her actions and had planned the killings.
Desronvil later stated that he believed the physical evidence and witness testimony demonstrated that Clancy knew what she was doing. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will retry Clancy. She is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 29.
