The New Castle County Police Department is searching for at least two masked men who knocked on doors in the Mallard Pointe neighborhood of New Castle, Delaware, late Friday night, one of whom was carrying an apparent rifle. The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. on Friday when officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 1200 block of Canvasback Drive. Residents stated that a man wearing a black hockey-style mask and a tactical-style vest approached homes while holding what appeared to be a rifle. Images released by the police department show the individual in a tactical vest knocking on a front door, while a separate image captures another person in a black vest and mask approaching a residence. Police indicated that the man allegedly knocked on doors before fleeing the scene. Authorities also reported seeing four men heading eastbound on Mallard Road, with two traveling on bicycles and two walking. A search of the neighborhood and nearby properties involving officers and a K-9 unit did not result in locating the individuals. While police have not confirmed whether the items were real firearms, they believe the weapons may have been airsoft-style guns. The department has asked anyone with information or home security footage to contact 911 or the non-emergency line at 302-573-2800.
