The Berkeley, California-based company disclosed the move in an 8-K filing on October 19, 2026, citing Morris's more than three decades of experience in building and scaling fresh, refrigerated food brands.

John Foraker, chief executive officer, co-founder, and chair of Once Upon a Farm, stated that Morris brings "a wealth of experience and expertise" to the board. Foraker highlighted Morris's "contrarian vision" and his commitment to nurturing brands while preserving their purpose as valuable traits as the business scales. The company's stated mission is to drive systemic improvements in childhood nutrition for a healthier, happier, and more equitable world.

Morris co-founded Freshpet (NASDAQ: FRPT) in 2006, a move described as disrupting the $56 billion pet food industry. During his tenure at Freshpet, he held senior roles including president, chief operating officer, and chief marketing officer. The company reports that under his leadership, Freshpet grew into a category leader with more than $1 billion in annual sales. Morris was instrumental in establishing the in-store refrigerated network that brought fresh pet food to mainstream retail.

Prior to co-founding Freshpet, Morris served as vice president of marketing at The Meow Mix Company. He also spent more than a decade in sales and marketing leadership roles at Ralston Purina. His background spans more than 30 years in consumer packaged goods, where he has built brands, businesses, and entire categories.

Morris expressed his enthusiasm for joining the board in a statement included in the release. He noted that he has known Foraker for many years and appreciates the products, people, and values established by the team. He added that he looks forward to sharing what he has learned and supporting Foraker and the team as they continue building the company to realize its full potential.
