Jodie Evans, wife of tech investor Neville Roy Singham, marched in a coordinated anti-Israel demonstration through Midtown Manhattan on Thursday while the Justice Department's U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York maintains a grand jury investigation into alleged money laundering, bank fraud, and wire fraud by Singham and his network. Evans, a longtime leader at the People's Forum Inc. and co-founder of CodePink, participated in a four-hour protest that began at the New York Public Library after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the United Nations.
The demonstration, observed by Fox News Digital, utilized a structured infrastructure including field marshals, pre-made signs, portable sound equipment, and a stage. Activists from the People's Forum, CodePink, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, and the Palestinian Youth Movement marched with coordinated slogans, including chants of "Long live the intifada." The protest route led from Fifth Avenue to E. 42nd Street and concluded near the United Nations headquarters.
Singham has funded a network of organizations that have operated within the broader pro-communist activist sphere since selling his technology company ThoughtWorks in 2017. A Fox News Digital investigation found that Singham directed $285 million to nonprofits and media organizations. Tax filings show the People's Forum received $22.4 million from Singham. CodePink received $1.33 million, while BreakThrough BT Media Inc., the operator of BreakThrough News, received $1.098 million. The Palestinian Youth Movement received $1 million through its nonprofit fiscal sponsor, Honor the Earth, from WesPac Foundation Inc. between late 2023 and late 2024.
Congressional lawmakers and federal policymakers have criticized the groups as antisemitic and anti-American, describing them as "Trojan horses" for the Chinese Communist Party. In response, Evans denied these allegations during an interview with Fox News Digital. She stated that Singham has not been in the United States for six and a half years but affirmed that he supports "stopping a genocide." Evans also rejected claims of Chinese influence, stating, "China is not our enemy!"
The protest featured paid personnel from the organizations involved. Layan Fuleihan, the People's Forum's education director, was paid $78,649 according to IRS filings. David Chung, the organization's organizing director, earned $76,249. Taher Dahleh, an organizer with the Palestinian Youth Movement, coordinated march elements and has previously criticized tech companies for alleged support of Israel.
During the event, BreakThrough News and CodePink produced video content for online distribution. A video posted by CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin described the protest as ongoing since 10 a.m., repeating the slogan "From the river to the sea Palestine will be free." The People's Forum posted footage on X showing demonstrators below American flags.
At the conclusion of the march, organizers broke down their stage and speaker system near Times Square. De Los Santos, executive director of the People's Forum, greeted returning protesters at the organization's headquarters on W. 34th Street. He stated that organizing protests is not illegal and declared, "Yeah, I am a communist." Singham and the organizations he have funded have not been charged with any crimes.
