Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss captured the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship on Friday Night SmackDown, ending an 83-day reign for Fatal Influence. The title change occurred after Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab attacked Charlotte Flair backstage, rendering her unable to defend her titles alongside Paxley. As a result, Alexa Bliss stepped in to replace Flair for the match against Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid.
During the contest, the referee stopped a potential pinfall by Henley after observing the Fatal Influence members using the ropes and Reid as leverage to hold Paxley down. With Reid's back turned, Bliss struck her with a Sister Abigail on the floor. Henley turned her attention to Bliss, allowing Paxley to deliver a Cemetery Drive to Henley. Paxley pinned Henley for the victory, securing the gold for the new tag team.
The win marks Paxley's first championship on the WWE main roster. She made her debut in August following a tenure at NXT, where she had previously held the women's title, the North American championship, and the tag team belt. On her initial SmackDown appearance, Paxley helped Bliss and Flair fend off an attack from Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab. That group continues to target Bliss and Flair, but the duo now holds championship hardware.
Bliss becomes a five-time tag team champion with this victory. Her previous reigns included partnerships with Charlotte Flair, Asuka, and Nikki Cross. Fatal Influence had originally won the titles at Saturday Night's Main Event in July by defeating Brie Bella and Paige.
