Aldrea Rogers, a 22-year-old Texas mother, faces two counts of manslaughter after allegedly driving at 82 mph in a 35 mph zone, a speed that crashed into the vehicle of two recent Southern Methodist University graduates. Dallas County jail records reviewed by Fox News Digital confirm Rogers was arrested and charged in connection with the deaths of Julian Harris and Madison Duren.
FOX 4 Dallas reported that a newly released arrest affidavit alleges Rogers was traveling at a high rate of speed when her Hyundai Elantra struck the couple's Toyota Prius. Investigators stated that Harris, 23, was driving the Prius with Duren, 22, in the passenger seat as he attempted to turn left onto a major roadway. The impact killed Harris at the scene. Duren was transported to a hospital, where she later died.
Rogers was in the car with her two young children during the crash. Authorities said all three survivors, including Rogers, were unhurt. The victims had recently graduated from SMU, where they shared a passion for theater and remained active in Dallas' theater community after leaving school. Friends described the couple as curious and enthusiastic individuals who enjoyed learning and connecting with others.
Rogers was booked into the Dallas County Jail on Oct. 16. Jail records show bond was set at $250,000 for each manslaughter charge, resulting in a total bond of $500,000 as of Wednesday afternoon. Friends of the victims expressed disbelief that Rogers, who was the same age as the deceased couple, allegedly had young children in the vehicle during the fatal incident.
The couple had been leaving their apartment when the collision occurred. A memorial service for Harris and Duren is scheduled for Oct. 31 at Southern Methodist University. Fox News Digital has reached out to Dallas Police Department and Dallas County court officials to secure the arrest affidavit and further details on the investigation.
